COLORADO SPINGS, Colo. -- A conference-high 92 BYU student-athletes were named 2003-04 Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athletes, the MWC announced July 15. In all, the league recognized 424 scholar-athletes from its eight member schools for the 2003-04 year.

Among the BYU student-athletes named is sophomore Jennifer Whiteley of the softball team. Whiteley from Houston, TX currently has a 3.62 GPA with an open major.

Playing an integral role for the cougars on the field in 2004, Whiteley recorded 39 hits...scored 24 runs...knocked in 12 RBI's and posted a .295 batting average in 51 games played.

To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two semesters or three quarters at the certifying institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have competed in at least one varsity contest in their respective sport.
