PROVO -- The BYU football team conducted its final day of two-a-day practices Wednesday, holding two light workouts to close Fall Camp.

In the morning session, the team practiced in just helmets, closing the practice with the traditional slip-n-slide activity. Dan Bates found the slip-n-slide nothing to smile about. Bates' tooth was knocked out on the slide and subsequently swallowed. Team trainer Kevin Morris joked that attempts to recover the swallowed tooth were unsuccessful.

The team worked out in full pads during the afternoon session, working on punt-block and punt-return formations. The team closed by working on red-zone situations. The team ran seven series during the drill--most starting from the 10-yard line.

The offense was able to score on five of the seven series, compiling three touchdowns and two field goals. On the final series, the offense started at the five-yard line, driving to the one to set up a fourth-and-goal from the one. Judd Anderton exploded through the line on the fourth-down play, tackling Bryce Mahuika for a seven-yard loss to end the drive.

Head coach Gary Crowton said he thought his team made great strides during two-a-days, saying they were right where he wanted them to be at this point of camp.

"Our team is sick and tired of beating up on each other," Crowton said. "They want to start working on their opponent, Notre Dame."

Thursday the team will take it easy, participating only in a walk through. The team will begin preparations for Notre Dame on Friday.
