It was all BYU from the start. At the end of the second day of the BYU Men's Cougar Invitational, BYU won every singles match they played. Setting up an all blue semifinal and final singles matches.

"It's a coach's dream to have an all BYU final," said Head Coach Brad Pearce. "Everything is good for me.

BYU ousted the last remaining singles players when the Cougars Shane LaPorte beat Utah State's Mark Gebicki 7-6; 6-2 and Jeff Das overpowered Montana State's Charlie Yemm 6-1; 6-2 in the quarterfinals.

"It's hard to contain my excitement at how good this team is," Pearce said. " I can't wait for this season to get underway."

BYU's Chip Hand continues to torch opposing players. He beat Hannes Schenk from Utah State in the quarterfinal round in two sets, only giving up five total points in the match.

"I'm really pleased with his effort this year." Pearce said. "He has come out with a lot of intensity and has kept it up through out the matches."

Cougar James Ludlow beat teammate Jeff Das in a long, hard fought battle in three sets. He will play Hand in the final singles match.

In the doubles bracket, BYU's team of Jose Lechuga and Nima Roshan will face number one doubles seed Mark Gebicki and Braden Olsen in the championship

The all blue singles championship match will start Saturday at 11:00 am with the doubles tipping off at 1:00 pm. Both matches will be played on BYU's newly resurfaced outdoor courts. Admission to the event is free.
