Student-Athletes Participate in Community Service Projects

PROVO -- Fifty student-athletes representing all 21 Division I sports teams at BYU, including those who are currently competing, participated in two significant service projects last week.

Beginning at 8 a.m., and for the next three hours 40 students volunteered their time to beautify the walking path east of LaVell Edwards Stadium on Sat., Oct. 9. The project included spreading rock, trimming bushes and removing debris from the area.

Earlier that morning, at 6:30 a.m., 10 members of BYU's cross country and track teams were at Joaquin Elementary in Provo assisting in a 3K fundraising race. The proceeds from this event went to help purchase athletic equipment for use by the elementary school.
