Because of rain delays, the 2004 Wilson/ITA Mountain Region Men's Tennis Championship saw limited action as only the first round was able to play.
As a result, BYU's high seeded Nima Roshan, Jeff Das and Chip Hand sat the day out because of first round BYE's.
But from those that did play, the Cougars got some serious game out of them.
Senior Jose Lechuga showed experience as he blew past UNLV's Sean Hubbard 7-5;6-2. Freshmen Shane LaPorte and James Ludlow overwhelmed opponents Chigateria Tejeshwara from Montana State 6-1;7-6 and Jason Tan from the University of Denver 6-1;6-2 respectively.
Big serving Dominik Kaufhold powered his way past Utah's Jason Yap 6-2;6-3 while Jonathan Sanchez, the only Cougar to lose, lost a tough three match set to Northern Arizona's Jamie Maxwell 6-7;6-2;6-1.
More than 120 players from 16 western teams gathered for the event,
Which runs through Sunday on campus.
