PROVO -- A candidate for Freshman All-America and Mountain West Conference Freshman-of-the-Year honors, BYU receiver Austin Collie is making a solid case for voter consideration.

Collie, a 6-foot-1, 185-pounder, was credited with three receptions for 95 yards in the Cougars' 49-16 win over San Diego State on Saturday. Two of Collie's three receptions went for touchdowns, including a spectacular one-handed grab to give BYU a 26-3 lead with 7:05 remaining in the third quarter. Collie also had an 82-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter, marking the longest reception in Mountain West Conference history by a freshman.

A true freshman, Collie ranks second nationally among rookie receivers with seven touchdowns on the season, averaging 4.7 points per game. Through nine games, he is also the nation's leading freshman receiver with 5.11 receptions per contest. Averaging 68.2 yards per game, Collie ranks second nationally among freshman receivers.

On the season, Collie has 46 receptions for 614 yards, averaging 13.3 yards per reception. Entering Saturday's game (vs. San Diego State), Collie had been credited with 43 straight completions without a single drop. On the season, he has been credited with only one dropped pass.
