Colorado Springs, CO. (Jan. 10, 2005)-- Senior forward Kristen Kozlowski was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, Monday, earning her first career award.
Kozlowski, a 6-foot-2 forward from Centerville, Utah, averaged 13.5 points in two victories last week for the Cougars. BYU defeated Montana State, 80-42, and Portland State, 77-50, in their last two games before conference play begins. Kozlowski shot 90.0 percent (9-for-10) from the field for the week and was also a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line. She scored 14 points, including 8-for-8 from the charity stripe, and grabbed six rebounds in just 19 minutes vs. Montana State, then scored 13 points on 6-for-6 field goal shooting in only 12 minutes vs. Portland State.
For the week, Kozlowski averaged 13.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. She shot 90.0 percent from the field (9-for-10) and 100.0 percent (9-for-9) from the free-throw line.
BYU opens league play at home vs. Wyoming, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m.
The weekly honor was the first for co-captain Kozlowski and the first for the BYU team this season.
