Provo, Utah (January 26, 2005)--BYU's 25th ranked women's tennis team heads out this weekend on its first road trip of the year, making a stop in Manhattan, Kansas on Friday to take on the Kansas State Wildcats, followed by a trip to Lawrence to take on the Jayhawks Saturday.
Last weekend, Cougars overcame Washington State 4-3, but later dropped their first match of the season to ninth ranked Washington 6-1. The women are now 2-1 on the year.
The Kansas State opened up the 2005 season with a 7-0 sweep of Drake. The win was the team's largest opening day win since the 1998 season.
In their season opener, the Jayhawks narrowly beat Illinois State 4-3 to go 1-0 on the year. After winning the doubles point, the Jayhawks dropped their first three singles matches before rallying to win the final three, eventually giving Kansas the win.
The Cougars will play Kansas State Friday at 4 p.m., followed by 5 p.m. Saturday match against Kansas.
