PROVO -- Because of bad weather the match between BYU and the University of San Diego was canceled. At the time the match was called off, the Toreros had a slim lead at 3-2.

But the Cougars showed their famous fighting sprit, as Cougar James Ludlow was tied with San Diego's Mirza Koristovic 2-2 in the third set. They had split the two previous matches as 7-6 apiece. BYU Freshman Shane LaPorte was slightly behind the Toreros Thomas Liversage 1-0 in the final frame. The split the first two match with the first going to Liversage 7-6, and the second going to LaPorte by the same score of 7-6.

Despite the canceled match, Cougar coach Brad Pearce was happy with the way his team came out and played.

"It was a good day for Cougar tennis," Pearce said. "Our guys fought hard and that always pleases a coach to see that."

The Cougars return home from their tough road match with a loss to 2nd ranked UCLA (7-0) and a win against UC Irvine (5-2). They take on the Oregon Ducks in Provo next Saturday the 5th of February at noon.
