PROVO -- Senior catcher Lauren Watson-Perry and junior pitcher Summer Tobias have been named Mountain West Conference Player and Pitcher of the week respectively.
Watson-Perry, from Castaic, Calif., hit .800 (8-10) with four home runs, two doubles, seven RBI and seven runs scored. Against Hawaii, she went 4-for-4 from the plate with two home runs. Currently Watson-Perry leads the MWC in batting average (.667), slugging percentage (1.476), on-base percentage (.708), runs scored (12), RBI (11), and home runs (5).
Tobias, from Temecula, Calif., and a transfer from the University of Nebraska posted a 2-0 record in the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic in Las Vegas. In 9.1 innings on the mound, Tobias gave up no runs with seven strikeouts, and seven hits. On the season, Tobias is 3-0 with a .086 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 16.1 innings.
