PROVO -- The 60th ranked BYU men's tennis team remains undefeated at home with a solid, but scrappy 7-0 sweep of the 65th --ranked University of Colorado Buffalos Saturday night.
"I am happy with any win," said head coach Brad Pearce. "But I am a tough coach to please, and tonight I was pleased."
After sneaking by a solid University of Denver team last night, the Cougars brought down some thunder today. The went up early on the Buffalos after winning the doubles point with Cougar duo's Lechuga/Rosan and Kaufhold/Ludlow getting wins.
From there it was a solid sweep from one singles to six. The only Cougar to go three sets was freshman Shane LaPorte. He lost the first set, 6-7(5), but came back swinging in the second, winning 6-4. He would then hold on the third set in thrilling 10-8 tiebreaker.
Sophomore transfer James Ludlow, continues his impressive play. Ludlow is the only top four singles player to go 2-0 in the weekend doubleheader. Playing at the two singles spot again tonight, he cleanly won in two sets, 7-6,6-3.
Because the Arizona State match was moved up a few weeks, BYU will fill the hole in their schedule with Idaho State here on March 5th. Overall the Cougars are 6-3.
