PROVO -- The 64th-ranked men's tennis team defeated the Idaho State Bengals in a clean sweep, lasting under three hours, on BYU's sunny outdoor courts this afternoon.
"My expectations for today's match were to have everyone take care of business out there and we did that," head coach Brad Pearce said.
BYU started the doubles matches off effortlessly. Cougars Jose Lechuga and Nima Roshan won a 9-8 thriller to cap the doubles sweep.
Things kept going smoothly for the Cougars from there. In fact, the singles proved to be painless for BYU. There were a couple tight games between Cougar, James Ludlow, and ISU's Marc Pijoan, but Ludlow pulled out winning with 6-4 and 6-5.
The Cougars are now at a 7-3 record and have maintained an undefeated home winning streak.
Pearce said that today's relaxed match was a good opportunity for the team to slow down before they hit the road. Next up for the BYU men is the Indian Wells Invitational on March 17.
