PROVO -- With two straight league road wins, BYU's women's basketball team finishes the MWC regular season in third place with a (18-9, 9-5) record.
The Cougars will face Colorado State (15-12, 6-8) on Wed., Mar. 9, at 8:30 p.m., in quarterfinal action at the 2005 MWC Women's Basketball Championships. All games will be played at the Pepsi Center in DENVER.
No. 3 seed BYU meets No. 6 seed Colorado State for the third time in the MWC tournament, with the series tied at 1-1. Both teams are 4-1 in quarterfinal games. During this year's regular season, the Cougars swept the series with the Rams winning in Ft. Collins for the first time since 1994 when both teams were in the WAC.
The Cougars come into this year's tournament on a strong note, winning seven of their last nine games. During regular season MWC action, BYU tallied a 4-3 record on the road and comes into the championships on a two-game winning streak. The Cougars swept the series against UNLV, SDSU, CSU, and AFA. They lost both games to Wyoming and Utah who finish as MWC co-champs, and split with the other regular season co-champions New Mexico.
