PROVO -- BYU softball heads to Clearwater, Fla., for the Speedline invitational, this weekend March 10-12, looking to improve on their team-best 11-1 start.

The Cougars are coming off two weeks of rest since going 4-1 in the Palm Springs Classic where their only loss came at the hands of then third ranked Texas.

BYU continues to lead the Mountain West Conference in six offensive categories that include batting average (.337), slugging percentage (.611), runs (98), RBI (83), on-base percentage (.423), and home runs (24). In addition, the Cougar pitching staff has the lowest ERA in the conference at 1.17.

Individually, senior Lauren Watson-Perry leads the conference in batting average (.475), home runs (6), slugging percentage (1.000), and on-base percentage (.543). Junior pitcher Summer Tobias has the lowest ERA of any pitcher in the conference at 0.79.

BYU plays the University of Illinois, Chicago (7-10) at 4 p.m. and the University of Buffalo (2-8) at 6 p.m. Thursday. Friday's action has the Cougars set to battle the University of Massachusetts (3-6) at 6 p.m. Saturday's match-up has the Cougars playing Jacksonville University (8-14) at 12 p.m. All games are Eastern Time.
