PROVO -- The 24th ranked BYU women's team swept in-state rival Utah 7-0 today.
"Today we didn't do anything special," said head coach Craig Manning. "We just came out and played some good solid tennis."
BYU started out today's sweep with a doubles sweep. The Cougars picked up easy wins from Boulytcheva and Holden, followed by Surkova and Miccoli's win to give the Cougars the doubles point. But it would be the first doubles that would give the crowd their money's worth. BYU's Jones and Chang would make a thrilling comeback from being down 5-1 to win the doubles match.
In singles, the Cougars easily handled the Utes, as every girl from one singles down to six would win in straight sets. BYU advances to 9-2 on the year, while Utah drops to 8-6. BYU takes on a tough 22st ranked Norte Dame team tomorrow at noon on the outdoor courts.
BYU is 1-0 in the Mountain West Confrence.
