PROVO -- BYU softball heads to Sacramento, Calif., to compete in the Capital Classic March 18-19 hosted by Sacramento State University.

Two schedule changes have been made to the BYU schedule. Originally, Iowa and Rhode Island were on the schedule, but they have been replaced by Portland State and Minnesota.

The Cougars are scheduled to play five games in two days that include Sacramento St., and Illinois on Friday and No. 2 Cal, Portland State, and Minnesota on Saturday.

"This weekend is going to be real tough for us," BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. "That second day is going to be a test for our team, starting the day against Cal and then having Portland St. and a strong Minnesota team right after."

Lauren Watson-Perry continues to lead the conference in hits (28), and batting average (.491), and is in second place in home run total at 7. Teammate Ashlyn Russell leads in the home run category with 8 and slugging percentage (1.000).

The Cougars (15-2) face Sacramento St. (15-11) at 10 a.m. and Illinois (11-7) at 12:30 p.m. March 18.
