PROVO, Utah (March 26,2005)--It wasn't much of a shootout for 22nd ranked BYU as they easily handled Wyoming 6-1 for their third straight Mountain West Conference win.

"You know, we are just playing such great doubles right now," said head coach Craig Manning. "Today was just another solid all-around effort from the girls."

The Cougar young guns got off the first shot as they pulled out the teams fifth consecutive doubles sweep. The last time the Cougars failed to sweep their opponent in doubles was March 8th against South Carolina.

The girls in blue and white were led by the Fab Freshmen duo of Anastasia Sourkova and Jennifer Miccoli. They pulled off their second consecutive 8-0 doubles win. Then Wittenbecher and Williamson stepped into the fight and won 8-4 and secured the doubles point for BYU. Dolly Chang and Lauren Jones sealed the sweep with their 8-4 win.

In singles the Cowgirls fought hard but BYU was too much for them in the end. At one singles, sophomore Lauren Jones showed she's got a little gravel in her gut and spit in her eye. She cowgirled up and with guns ablazin' blasted Wyoming's Chien 6-2,6-1. At the two singles, Olga Boulytcheva found herself in an early shoot out. The ever-steady Boulytcheva lost the tough first set 2-6. But she would later regroup in the second, and fought her way to a 6-2 win in the second. From there it was all Boulytcheva. She won the final set by the exact same score 6-2.

The three and four singles match was much of the same for BYU. Sophomore Sophia Holden and freshman Jennifer Miccoli each went out in a blaze of glory, both only giving up a few games in their straight set wins. Holden won 6-1,6-3 while Miccoli shot her way to a 6-2,6-0 victory.

Senior Rebecca Pike, the Thunder from Down Under, easily won 6-1,6-1 at fifth singles for the Cougs, while Breanna Williamson showed some real grit playing hard in her first singles match of the year. Williamson pulled ahead early, getting the first set 6-3. But she couldn't hang on in the second losing by the same 6-3 score. Then in the tiebreaker she couldn't get her last couple shots to fall, eventually falling 10-8.

BYU advances to 14-3 on the year, while posting a perfect 3-0 conference record. BYU travels to Colorado Springs next weekend for Friday's tough match against New Mexico followed by the next day's Air Force match.
