PROVO, Utah (April 8th 2005)---After beating No.63 Utah yesterday, the Cougars just about blew the roof off the indoor courts today with their sizzling 6-1 win over a very good No. 59 ranked New Mexico tennis team.

The story of the day was the phenomenal doubles play by the Cougars especially the No. 1 doubles team of Nima Roshan and Jose Lechuga. They simply took it to the country's No. 5 ranked doubles duo in Stotland and Kowalski. Roshan and Lechuga used a combination of great serving and tough play at the net to get the 8-5 win. With the momentum going their way, BYU picked up two more solid wins at 2 and 3 doubles to sweep New Mexico.

The Cougar avalanche continued on into singles. The steady James Ludlow picked up the first singles win with a 6-4,7-5 win at the No. 2 slot to advance BYU's lead to 2-0. Then Jeff Das chipped in an easy 6-4,6-3 win at the No. 3 singles and finally Shane LaPorte ended his 4-match slide with a match clinching 6-3,7-5 win.

BYU advanced its lead to 5-0 with Nima Roshan's big two set tiebreaker win over New Mexico's Fab Freshman Max Jones. Roshan handed Jones his first loss of the season. Roshan held onto the first set 7-6 (8) but slipped in the second 4-6. In the tiebreaker he managed to hold 12-10 for the win.

With the win BYU advances to 3-1 in conference play with their final conference match being played tomorrow at 1:30 against Air Force. With the win, the Cougars advance to 15-5 on the season and preserve their perfect 7-0 home record.
