PROVO, Utah (April 14th 2005)--Junior Nima Roshan was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week for his performance last weekend against Utah, New Mexico and Air Force.

Junior Nima Roshan has been solid for BYU all year long at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles and this weekend was no exception. Against Utah, his win at number one singles gave BYU the difference in the tight 4-3 win and kept BYU's perfect home record intact. After losing the doubles point early to Utah, BYU had come back to tie the score at 3-3. Rosan stepped to the plate against BYU's rival and led the Cougars to victory with his two set winner.

The next day against New Mexico he played, what many die hard Cougar tennis fans called, some of the best doubles tennis in recent memory. He and teammate Jose Lechuga were on fire upsetting New Mexico's 5th ranked doubles duo (Stotland,Kowalski) in the country. Roshan's big serve seemed to be the difference maker as the duo recorded several key aces. Next in singles play, that big serve came in handy again as he beat New Mexico's Max Jones for Jones' first dual loss of the YEAR. The match was a classic hard-fought three set contest. Nima picked up the first set in a dramatic tiebreaker 7-6(8) then lost the second 4-6. But he later pulled out the match in a down to the wire third set tiebreaker 12-10 to clinch the victory and help seal the win over 60th ranked New Mexico.

Roshan posts an overall 9-10 singles record while going 12-8 in doubles this year.
