PROVO -- BYU softball is back in conference action as they take on Colorado State and New Mexico Friday and Saturday at Gail Miller Field in Provo.

The Cougars are in first place in the Mountain West Conference with a 5-1 conference record. BYU is coming off a 5-3 road victory over UVSC on Tuesday giving the Cougars their ninth win in their last 10 games.

Junior pitcher, Summer Tobias has been as hot as they come on the mound, winning five in a row that including a perfect game against UVSC March 30. Lauren Watson-Perry is second in the MWC in batting average (.427), on-base percentage (.488),runs scored (36), and total bases (32)...In this week's NCAA statistics she is tied for fifth in runs scored (36), 22nd in batting average, (.427), and 35th in slugging percentage, (.745). Ashlyn Russell appears in the NCAA statistics ranking first in home runs per game at (0.41), sixth in slugging percentage, (876), and 27th in RBI per game (0.97).

BYU (26-9, 5-1) is set to battle Colorado State (25-14, 4-2) Friday, April 15 at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. and New Mexico at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday April 16. Saturday's 2 p.m. game will be televised live on BYUTV.
