Boise, Idaho (April 15, 2005)--The No. 53 BYU men's tennis team dropped a tough road match to No. 32 Boise State 4-3 today.
After claming an early 3-1 lead, the Cougars failed to capitalize giving up the final 3 matches to the Broncos.
BYU started off right, winning the doubles point at the two and three spots. James Ludlow and Dominik Kaufhold came up with an 8-5 win at two while Chip Hand and Shane LaPorte got an 8-6 win at three. That gave BYU the early lead heading into singles.
BYU would get wins at five and six singles while Boise State picked up a win at three singles making the score 3-1 in BYU's favor. The Cougs needed only one match to claim the upset. But in the end Boise State proved to be to strong at the top, winning at one through four singles to claim the overall victory.
The Cougars play Fresno State tomorrow at noon to finish off the regular season. BYU then prepares for the Mountain West Conference starting on April 28th in San Diego.
