PROVO -- Senior point-guard and team co-captain Julie Sullivan, a member of BYU's women's basketball team, was named the All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year, by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Sullivan was one of 251 collegiate athletes to receive the award. She was nominated for the honor by the team's strength coach Corey Anderson. "Julie is extremely hard working and a fierce competitor," said Anderson. "She had fought her way through some difficult injuries, given birth to a son, and still managed to be a team leader on the court both in scoring and in her intensity."

In the 2004-05 season Sullivan led the Cougar team in scoring (11.6), in assists (3.73) and in steals (1.2). She was named First Team All- Conference and scored in double figures in 21 of 30 total games.

Last year the same award went to teammate Kali Taylor.
