PROVO -- BYU's Robbie Pratt was named the Mountain West Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for his record-setting performance at the Y Invitational in Provo on Friday.
The junior from El Paso, Texas set a new school and Mountain West Conference record by clearing 5.60m, 18 feet 4.5 inches. He previously held both records by clearing 18 feet 2.75 inches
His mark is also tops in the nation this year. He was previously ranked No. 3 behind teammate Trent Powell.
Pratt has previously competed for Mexico during the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, where he was semifinalist. He is also a three-time Mexico National Champion in the pole vault.
