Marketing Intern Earns Postgraduate Scholarship

CLEVELAND -- The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators selected BYU Athletics Marketing intern Scott Holt as a recipient of the NACMA Postgraduate Scholarship award.

While at BYU, Holt earned a degree in marketing communications with a minor in business management. During his senior year, he served as a student intern with athletic marketing. His efforts had a direct impact on game attendance in a variety of sports.

He developed and executed Books Before Basketball, an educational achievement program that rewards students for their efforts in education with an opportunity to attend men's and women's basketball games. Attendance at women's games benefited from the program with a 24 percent increase. Holt's efforts also increased attendance for many of BYU's Olympic sports, including a 48.6 percent growth for women's volleyball and a 44.8 percent increase for gymnastics.

Holt was also involved in several extracurricular activities during his time at BYU. He volunteered for the first and second rounds of the 2004 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship and served as an assistant coach for a junior high school track team. Along with his community involvement, he earned the 2004 Communications Department Writing Talent Scholarship and was named to the Dean's List in the summer of 2004.

One of five award recipients, Holt and the other honorees will each receive a $1,500 grant to be used for postgraduate studies. The scholarships were awarded to full-time seniors that carried a minimum GPA of 3.0 and are planning to pursue a graduate degree in athletics administration.
