PROVO, Utah (July 11, 2005) Seven members of the 2004-05 women's basketball team were honored as 2005 Spring Academic All-Mountain West. A total of 178 BYU student-athletes received the recent academic citations.

All four of last year's seniors made the list led by Kristen Kozlowski who compiled a 3.45 GPA in psychology. Kali Taylor followed with a 3.17 GPA in fitness and wellness. Danielle Cheesman had a 3.13 GPA in community health and team co-captain Julie Sullivan had a 3.04 in sociology.

Freshman Mary Martha Abell led the overall women's basketball team with a 3.67 GPA in management. Others named were junior Nancy Seljaas who is studying health education and had a 3.32 GPA and sophomore Tiari Goold with an open major and a GPA of 3.0.

To be eligible for selection, the student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the school while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on the athletic team.

In addition, Mary Martha Abell was one of 71 BYU students and the lone representative on the women's basketball team who also garnered an MWC Scholar Athlete award with a 3.67 GPA. For this academic award, the student-athletes must have completed at least two semesters at the certifying institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have competed in at least one varsity contest in their respective sport.
