PROVO -- BYU football fans will get their first chance to meet the 2005 Cougars at the Second Annual Cougar Kickoff, presented by the Deseret Morning News on Thursday, Aug. 18, beginning at 6 p.m. (MT) on Haws Field, located just west of the Indoor Practice Facility.

This will be an event for entire family to meet and interact with the BYU football team. The BYU women's volleyball team, women's soccer team, and the BYU cross country teams will also be on hand, along with the 2005 Cheer Squad and Cosmo. There will be interactive games and activities for fans of all ages. There will also be 2005 posters available, and autograph opportunities.

Fans will also have the opportunity to hear from several coaches, as well as head football coach Bronco Mendenhall.

Legacy Hall will also be open in the Student Athlete Building. Legacy Hall showcases the history and tradition of the BYU Athletic program. It features the BYU Athletic Hall of Fame, significant national awards, All-Americans, and highlights from the various sports. The Cougartown apparel shop and Legends Grille will be open to the public.

The BYU Athletic Department will also be holding a "Cougar Sale" that will include vintage, as well as new merchandise available for fans to gear up for the Cougars' season-opener on Sept. 3 against Boston College. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase everything from football cleats women's soccer warm-ups. Fans will be able to purchase old football game jerseys, game-worn baseball uniforms, men's volleyball duffel bags, and much, much more.

Admittance to the Cougar Kickoff, presented by the Deseret Morning News, will be free.
