COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced that BYU men's volleyball Sports Information Director, Kyle Chilton, was recognized as the top SID in the region for 2004-05.

BYU men's volleyball is a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. Knowing the MPSF features 12 of the country's top men's volleyball programs, Chilton was honored by the AVCA recognition.

"It's a great responsibility," Chilton said. "I enjoy working for one of BYU's most successful teams. The coaches and players are great to work with. It's nice to be recognized."

The MPSF is recognized as the top region in the country, with 10 of the finest 15 volleyball teams in the nation. The Cougars ended last season 20-10 and No. 8 in the nation.

Men's volleyball hits the courts again on Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. against Cal Baptist for the 2006 season opener.
