PROVO -- BYU Television has announced that it will televise four BYU men's volleyball home matches during the 2006 season.
Following is a list of the four matches that will be on BYU-TV:
Jan. 13 vs. Cal State Northridge, 7 p.m.
Jan. 20 vs. UC Santa Barbara, 7 p.m.
Feb. 3 vs. Pepperdine, 7 p.m.
March 4 vs. Stanford, 7 p.m.
BYU was 20-10 overall last year and finished third in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation at 15-7. With five starters back, the Cougars are reloaded and looking to return to the top of the MPSF. BYU was picked to win the league in the MPSF Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Northridge was picked to finish in a tie for sixth with Santa Barbara. Northridge was 19-13 overall and 10-12 in the MPSF in 2005 while Santa Barbara was 16-14 and 13-9. BYU split with both teams during the regular season and lost to Santa Barbara in the quarterfinals of the MPSF postseason tournament.
Pepperdine (25-2 overall, 20-2 in the MPSF in 2005) was picked to finish fourth in the league after winning the MPSF regular season, the MPSF postseason tournament and the NCAA national championship in 2005. The Waves were 2-0 against the Cougars in 2005. BYU earned two wins over Pepperdine in preseason action in October.
Stanford has been picked to finished 11th in the preseason poll and was 11-15 overall and 10-12 in the MPSF last year. BYU was 2-0 against the Cardinal in 2005.
