Multi-Events Begin Robison Invitational

PROVO -- The annual Robison Invitational got off to a good start with the Cougar multi-event athletes Wednesday and Thursday.

The women performed well in the heptathlon with senior Liis Berendsen finished first in the event with a score of 4,770 points. Berendsen won both the 200 meters and the long jump and tied for first in the high jump.

Weber State's Jill Stopa took second in the event and scored 4,446 points. BYU sophomore Julie Andersen was fourth in the event with 4,385 points.

Senior Devin Howe took the win on the men's decathlon with a provisional qualification for nationals in his score of 7,034 points. His score included a win in the high jump and 1,500 meters. BYU men's hurdles coach Kyle Grossarth was second to cross the finish line, running unattached and finishing with 6,705 points. Third to cross the finish line was BYU's Kevin Keys with 6,577 points.

The meet will continue Friday and Saturday with the individual competitors. Results will be available following each event at www.byutrack.com and the final results can also be found at www.byucougars.com.
