Beginning Sept. 1, 2006, dozens of BYU games and other Cougar programming will be available on Comcast through a variety of stations and packages. Subscribers to Comcast's expanded basic service will have access to the new MountainWest Sports Network (the mtn.) on channel 37. Seven football games, including the season, home-opener vs. Tulsa, and the season finale at Utah, will be broadcast on the mtn.
A joint venture between Comcast, College Sports Television (CSTV) and the Mountain West Conference, the mtn. will feature more than 25 MWC football games, 75 men's basketball games, women's basketball, conference championships, and other men's and women's Olympic sports.
In addition to the mtn., the Outdoor Life Network (OLN) will also be available through Comcast's expanded basic service. OLN will change its name to Versus in September and will be found on channel 34 in the Utah market. Two BYU football games are slated for broadcast on Versus -- TCU and Air Force.
BYU fans who subscribe to Comcast's basic digital package will have access to all three channels -- the mtn., Versus and CSTV -- beginning Sept. 1. CSTV will appear on channel 269. The BYU vs. Wyoming football game is scheduled for broadcast on CSTV in November. Subscribers of basic digital will also have access to game rebroadcasts on Comcast ON DEMAND anytime. ON DEMAND features pause, fast-forward and reverse capability. That means fans will be able to re-live the great moments of BYU sports on their own schedule.
