COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- BYU Freshman defender Andrea Willis has been named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Willis, a Riverside, Calif., native, scored her first career goal to give BYU a 2-0 lead over UNLV. Her goal secured BYU of the No. 2 seed in the MWC Tournament. Willis has been a key contributor on the BYU defense that has only allowed 10 goals on the season and has earned 11 shutouts.
Willis is the third Cougar to receive the honor this season. Sophomore Katie Larkin and junior Erika Woodbury have also received the award.
