PROVO -- BYU All-American quarterback John Beck will participate in the 82nd Annual East-West Shrine game on Saturday, Jan. 20 in Houston, Texas.

"It's an honor to be here with some of the top players in the country, and to have the chance to work with NFL personnel," Beck said. "I look forward to working hard this week and learning at an NFL level."

The West team will be coached by Dan Reeves, while the East Team will be coached by Don Shula. Beck will be one of three quarterbacks for the West Team. He will compete with Nevada's Jeff Rowe and Nebraska's Zac Taylor.

The East-West Shrine Game will be played at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas and will be broadcast live on ESPN2, beginning at 5 p.m. (MT) on Saturday.

HULA BOWL UPDATE

On Sunday, Jan. 14, BYU seniors Curtis Brown, Jake Kuresa and Jonny Harline participated in the 2007 Hula Bowl in Honolulu.

Harline had two passes thrown his way, while Brown carried the ball five times for a total of seven yards and had two receptions. Kuresa was credited with several key blocks during the game.

"I had a chance to talk to all three of those guys last night," Beck said. "They had a good time. It was neat to watch them and see three BYU guys out on the field at the same time.
