COLORADO SPRINGS -- BYU junior outfielder Emi Snow has been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player of the Week.
"Emi is a very clutch player," BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. "She just goes about her work and gets the job done."
Snow, from Mililani, Hawaii, hit .294 and drove in six RBI while posting a .824 slugging percentage at the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic. Snow's two home runs and three doubles led the Cougars to three straight victories. Against Cal Poly, Snow had two teammates on base as she hit one out of the park giving BYU a 5-1 lead heading into the fourth inning.
Snow hit her second multi-run homer of the day against Illinois, putting BYU ahead 3-2, ultimately resulting in an 11-9 win. Snow also posted a 1.000 fielding percentage throughout the tournament. The honor is the first for the junior who is hitting .324 on the season and has started every game.
"I think it's really a team recognition," Snow said. "Everyone played well last week, and there were so many good plays. But, it's definitely nice to get it."
