PROVO -- For the BYU women's volleyball team, spring means more than just sunshine and sandals. It also signals a return to competition as the Cougars will play on three different occasions over the next month. The spring schedule begins this weekend with a tournament at BYU and will culminate with a match at Illinois in April coupled with a visit to historic Nauvoo.
"Our team is fortunate to be able to play a diverse spring schedule," said BYU head coach Jason Watson. "The competition we face will serve as great preparation for the 2007 season."
The events will give the Cougars a chance to flex their muscles after a busy winter of practice. BYU returns all but two starters from last year's 25-6 team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, including All-American Chelsea Goodman and All-MWC honorees Erica Lott and Rachel Dyer.
BYU will begin tournament play this Saturday hosting Snow College, Salt Lake Community College and UVSC in the Smith Fieldhouse. On March 24th, the Cougars will travel to Pullman, Wash., to play Idaho and host Washington State.
The Cougars' spring schedule concludes on April 7th at Illinois where the team will compete against the Fighting Illini and then take a Church history tour in Nauvoo, Ill.
