FAYETTEVILLE -- Competition proved difficult on day two at the NCAA Indoor National Championships. The women's team finished with just two points and the men's team failed to score at the national meet for the first time in several years.

"Well it wasn't a very good meet for us," BYU men's head coach Mark Robison. "It's been a long time since we have not scored at the national meet and we are glad we can try again out doors."

In the shot put, Niklas Arrhenius recorded a mark of 59 feet 0.75 inches. After hurting his hand on his first attempt, Arrhenius came back to record his longest throw of the day on his third attempt, but he failed to qualify for the finals.

David Pendergrass came into the meet as the Mountain West Conference Champion in the high jump. He cleared the first two heights, but just missed the mark on the third height. He cleared 7 feet 0.25 inches to tie for 10th place.

Kassi Andersen ran solid in the 3000 meters. She turned in a time of 9:23.57 to take 11th place. She started in the back of the pack, but as the pack started to spread out, Andersen moved up, passing six runners.
