COLLEGE STATION -- Katie Larkin scored the only goal of the game to give BYU a 1-0 win over defending Big 12 champions, Texas A&m, this past weekend.

All-American Katie Larkin scored the only goal of the night in the 34th minute of action after a deflected ball by the Aggies' keeper landed right in front of Larkin's feet and she kicked it into the back of the net. Forwards Carolyn Swenson and Alyssa Vander Veur assisted on the game-winning goal.

"Katie continues to be someone that the team can rely on to always give her best effort,"said head coach Jennifer Rockwood. "She was the leading scorer this past season and helped lead the team tonight to a big win."

Not only did Larkin play well but the hard work as a team drew in the important win.

"I was pleased with our effort and energy in the game on Friday night," said Rockwood. "It was a great opportunity for our team to play at such a first class facility and against a team as highly accomplished and respected as Texas A&M. I felt that we were very solid defensively and that we were able to create some great chances in front of the goal."

The win makes BYU 6-0 during its 2007 spring season. The loss for Texas A&M is the first spring-season loss in the past three years. Their last loss was against the Brazilian Olympic Team in 2004 who went on to win an Olympic silver medal.
