PROVO -- BYU student-athletes Josh Rohatinsky and Jennifer Grossarth were named Mountain West Conference Athletes of the Week for their performance at the Weber State meet and the Texas Relays, respectively.
Rohatinsky has competed only twice in 2007, and both times has set a new facility record. At the Wildcat Outdoor Open on Saturday, Rohatinsky's first meet of the outdoor season, he set a new Weber State Stewart Stadium Record of 3:46.59 in the 1500 meters. This record has stood since 2001 and, with the altitude conversion, Rohatinsky's time is the third best time in the nation. He also leads the MWC in the 1500 meters by more than five seconds. Rohatinsky holds the third best time in BYU history in the 5000 meters, the second best time in the 10,000 meters and the reigning Cross Country National Champion.
Jennifer Grossarth ran a career-best time in the 400 hurdles at the Texas Relays to put her in seventh place in the nation in the event with a time of 58.35. Grossarth finished with the sixth fastest time out of 65 competitors at the prestigious meet. Her time leads the conference by more than a second and puts her sixth all-time at BYU in the 400-meter hurdles.
Rohatinsky will compete in the 5000 meters this weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays and Grossarth will compete in the hurdles and sprints at the UCLA Invitational.
