PROVO -- As the NCAA review continues into the BYU men's volleyball program, athletics director Tom Holmoe has announced Shawn Patchell will be retained as the head coach on an interim basis.
"We have learned there is more work to do regarding the NCAA review of our men's volleyball program," Holmoe said. "As the review continues, we have determined it is in the best interest of the program to retain Shawn on an interim basis. We are committed to maintaining the tradition and national prominence of our men's volleyball program."
Patchell was named the interim co-head coach in August, 2006, along with Ryan Millar. Earlier this year, Millar announced his decision to return to the U.S. National Team and to also compete professionally. Holmoe said former Cougar setter Rob Nielson has been named as an assistant coach, also on an interim basis.
