Watch today's post-practice interview with defensive back Brandon Howard.

PROVO -- Max Hall commanded BYU's offense during Fall Camp Wednesday, where the players enjoyed their final day of practice without full pads.

"The offensive execution took a clear step forward today," BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall said. "Max is getting almost double the amount of reps a normal number-one would be getting. Starting from last January, it has been our approach in terms of the number of volume and experience we can provide."

The increased number of reps for Hall is helping the sophomore quarterback improve daily. He passed for 182 yards completing 20-of-23 passes, including one 21-yard completion to Dennis Pitta for a touchdown.

"Max is a fiery competitor, he is going to try to win no matter who he is competing against, and now he is competing to get our team ready for Arizona, " Mendenhall said.

While Hall led the offense, the defense still looked sharp with two significant pass- breakups on the day.

"The first-team defense is looking really solid and several guys on the second-team defense are really impressing us," Mendenhall said.

The team will continue morning practice through the remainder of the week, including Thursday being their first day in full pads.
