PROVO -- BYU fans will get their first chance to meet the 2007 Cougars at the Fourth Annual Cougar Kickoff presented by the Deseret Morning News on Thursday, Aug. 16, beginning at 6 p.m. on Haws Field, located just west of the Indoor Practice Facility.

This will be an event for entire family to meet and interact with the BYU football team. The BYU women's volleyball team, women's soccer team and men's and women's cross country teams will also be on hand, along with the 2007 Cheer Squad and Cosmo. There will be interactive games, activities, a live band and free Dreyer's Cougar Craze ice cream for fans of all ages. There will also be 2007 posters available and autograph opportunities.

Greg Wrubell, the Voice of the Cougars, will emcee the event. Fans will also have the opportunity to hear from several coaches including BYU head football coach Bronco Mendenhall.

"I'm excited for our fans and players to interact and generate excitement and momentum for the upcoming season," Mendenhall said.

Legacy Hall will also be open in the Student Athlete Building. Legacy Hall showcases the history and tradition of the BYU Athletic program. It features the BYU Athletic Hall of Fame, significant national awards, All-Americans and highlights from the various sports.

The BYU Athletic Department will also be holding a "Cougar Sale" beginning at 5:30 that will include vintage, as well as new merchandise available for fans to gear up for the Cougars' season-opener on Sept. 1 against Arizona. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase everything from football cleats women's soccer warm-ups. High school teams are especially encouraged to attend.

Admittance to the Cougar Kickoff will be free. Parking is located north of the Cougar Kickoff field.
