PROVO -- BYU freshman Kassidy Christensen (Bountiful, Utah -- Woods Cross HS) was named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week Wednesday for the first time in her career.

Christensen, also named Mountain West Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week, earned the honors by scoring game-winning goals in her first two starts of her career at Wyoming and at home against New Mexico in 1-0 wins last week. She has recorded three game-winners and four total goals in the last three games.

Including Christensen, three Cougars have made the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week this season. Junior Katie Larkin has made the team twice, and sophomore Andrea Willis received the honor once. More than 5,000 players nationally are considered for the award each week.

The Cougars will go on the road this week to play at UNLV in the final match of the season. A win over the Rebels would spell a regular season MWC Championship for BYU. The Cougars will also be vying for a MWC Tournament Championship at home Nov. 7-10.
