Carlee Clark-Platt, Senior, Bozeman, MT
Carlee Clark-Platt competed in the Conference Challenge and the Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 26, running the fastest 800-meter and mile times in the conference so far this season. She ran a 2:09.78 in the 800 meters at the Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational, beating the other runners in her heat by more than 12 seconds, and a 4:55.12 in the mile at the Conference Challenge. Platt's 800-meter time is just .38 seconds from a national provisional mark.
At last year's MWC Championships, Clark-Platt broke the MWC Indoor Championship record and Albuquerque Convention Center record in the 800 meters with her time of 2:09.43 and was part of the MWC Indoor Championship and Albuquerque Convention Center record-setting distance medley relay team that finished in 11:37.96 at the MWC Indoor Championships.
Kyle Perry, Junior, Sandy, UT
Despite not running for BYU's cross country team in the fall, BYU junior Kyle Perry is showing he's in fine shape and ready to compete at the national level. At the Conference Challenge in Lincoln, Neb., Perry ran the fourth-fastest mile time in the nation so far this season according to trackshark.com. Perry's 4:02.56 mile time, a whole eight seconds faster than any other athlete in his heat of 10 runners, is also the fastest in the conference to date. The mark also provisionally qualifies him for nationals.
This is Perry's second national provisional mark of the season. At the Cougar Indoor Invitational on Jan. 12, Perry ran a blistering altitude-adjusted 8:04.44 in the 3,000 meters. According to trackshark.com, Perry's time is the seventh fastest in the nation.
