COLORADO SPRINGS -- Senior co-captain Mallary Carling was named MWC Women's Basketball Player of the Week along with Morgan Warburton, from Utah.

In both games last week, Carling led BYU in scoring. The 5-10 guard from Vineyard, Utah, scored 24 points against Air Force and added another 20 against No. 15/16 Wyoming for a 22.0 average on the week. She shot 60.7 percent from field (17-of-28), went 2-for-2 from the charity stripe, and made 8-of-12 treys (.667). Carling also averaged 3.5 boards, contributed three assists and had four steals.

The honor is the first for Carling this season and fourth overall. She leads the team in scoring and assists with 14.7 points a game and has dished out a total of 70 assists this year. Carling ranks second all-time in assists with 228 to date. Her career points total of 1,286 rank her 14th all-time in the Cougars' 1,000-point club surpassing All-American Ambrosia Anderson by one-point.

The 20-point performance vs. Wyoming marked her 61st double-digit outing of her career and 14th this season. She has scored 20-plus points five times this season, including four times vs. MWC foes.

Warburton led the Utes to two victories last week as well, beating both nationally ranked Wyoming and Colorado State. In the game against Wyoming, she finished with 18 points on 7-for-15 shooting. Warburton also had a career-high 12 rebounds to tally her first double-double of the season. She went on to score another 18 points against the Rams. Warburton shot 53.8 percent from the field (14-for-26) and shot a team-best 6-for-9 (.667) from three-point range while leading her team with a 10.0 rebound-per-game average.
