FAYETTEVILLE -- BYU junior Kyle Perry finished third in the 3000 meters and junior Keith Jensen finished seventh in the 800 meters at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.
Both earned All-American honors, bringing BYU's tally to seven in the two-day meet.
"I am very excited about how our indoor season ended up," Robison said. "We were able to stay healthy which is very important as we go into outdoor. "
The BYU men finished the meet in 26th place with 9.5 points and the women finished tied for 46th with four points.
Perry ran an 8:02.63 after leading the race for the first few laps. Perry settled in the middle of the pack midway through the race and was jockeying for a good position to make a final push. But, with about 1000 meters to go, Kyle Alcorn of Arizona State had a huge kick and finished strong for the win.
"When I got boxed in I stopped focusing on winning because I was worried too much about getting out of the crowd," Perry said. "I felt like I had a lot left with 1200 meters to go, but a few mental errors kept me out of it."
Jensen crossed the line in 1:50.43 in the 800 meters. After starting off in the middle of the pack, he settled toward the back of the pack over the next 500 meters. Jensen had a strong kick, but couldn't quite catch up to Shaun Smith of Oral Roberts who finished just .10 seconds ahead of Jensen.
"Keith went out fast, but everyone else went out flying," Robison said. "He was moving up on a guy at the end, but he ended up seventh. "
BYU's outdoor season starts on Mar. 21, at the Dave Murray Distance Invitational in Tucson, Ariz.
