TUSCON -- BYU had three male athletes record qualifying times for this year's regional meet at the Cougars first outdoor track meet of the year on Friday. This took place at the Willie Williams/Dave Murray Meet that was hosted by the University of Arizona.
Kyle Baker, Bryce Bergen and Rob Skidmore have punched their tickets to the regional meet later this year with a chance to advance to the NCAA national meet for their performances in the javelin, high jump and 400 hurdles, respectively.
"It was a good start to our outdoor season," BYU men's coach Mark Robison said. "Everyone is healthy to start this portion of our season which is a big help and our guys are looking forward to a great year."
Burgen finished the high jump on the day as he cleared the bar at a height of 6 feet 10.75 inches. This jumped earned him a first-place finish.
As the first collegiate athlete to finish the 400 hurdles, Skidmore came in a close second to the event winner.
Baker recorded a personal all-time best mark in the javelin with a throw of 207 feet two inches. This distance for Baker was the third best in the meet.
