ST. GEORGE -- After two rounds at the BYU Dixie Classic, the BYU women's golf team leads the tournament. The Cougars currently sit in first place at 9-over-par, 14 strokes ahead of second-place Nebraska.
Three Cougars lead the tournament in individual play. Senior Juli Erekson currently is in first place at 5-under-par, junior Natalia Jimenez sits in second place at 1-under-par, and sophomore Shayla Forsey is in third place at 3-over-par.
Erekson shot an impressive 4-under-par 68 in the second round, giving her a strong lead. In round two, she hit four birdies on the front nine and two on the back nine. Forsey fired a 1-over-par 73 in the second round to help her advance from 10th to third place.
The BYU Dixie Classic is an annual tournament hosted by the Cougars at the par-72 Entrada at Snow Canyon golf course, where tournament tees are set at 6,151 yards. The 13-team competition includes 72-competitors from various universities, including No. 49 Texas Tech.
The BYU Dixie Classic concludes Wednesday. Round three will begin at 8:30 a.m. MST with a shotgun start.
