BYU men's basketball coach Dave Rose was honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches in San Antonio on Sunday, April 6.
The NABC singled out Rose for its Game Pillar Award for Service, one of only four Pillar Awards (Education, Leadership, Service and Advocacy) that the Association annually bestows on the most deserving among its vast membership. Rose received the award at the AT&T/NABC Guardians of the Game awards show at the Lila Cockrell Theatre in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center during the NCAA Final Four weekend.
Currently serving as the Honorary Chairman of the Children with Cancer Christmas Foundation, Rose works with his wife, Cheryl, and the men's basketball team to annually serve and comfort dozens of local families who endure the challenges of raising a child who has cancer. Rose was also the first coach in the State of Utah to participate in the American Cancer Society's nationwide Coaches vs. Cancer campaign while at Dixie State College.
