PROVO -- The BYU women's softball team is set to host the next round in the Deseret First Duel on Friday and Saturday when the Cougars take on Utah at home.

"It is always a bg week when we play Utah," BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. "This year has an added twist in the fact that we are both in the race for the conference title. I expect it to be two hard-fought games."

BYU leads the Duel at 28 points to Utah's 24.5. Both games are worth 1.5 points, for a total of 6 points this season up for grabs between the two softball teams.

BYU heads into the contest first in Mountain West Conference standings at 29-14 overall and 6-2 in the conference. Utah is 22-19 overall and 5-3 in the conference.

Friday's game will be available live on BYU-TV and will be re-broadcast on The Mtn. on April 19 at 5 p.m.

Prior to the Deseret First Duel Games, the Cougars will face Utah Valley in Orem for the second time this season. In the first meeting BYU shut out the Wolverines 7-0.
