COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- BYU freshman Kristin Delahoussaye and freshman righthander Paige Affleck and San Diego State senior lefthander Christina Ross have been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Co-Pitchers of the Week, respectively.
Delahoussaye, from Las Vegas, Nev., carried the Cougars to a 4-1 record over the week. The freshman was 9-for-17 with five starts in five games. Against Utah Valley, she scored safely three times, including the first run of the game and a solo home run in the seventh inning. Against Colorado State, Delahoussaye also scored three times, going 3-for-5 with a three-run homer to extend the Cougars' lead to 11-6. In BYU's second meeting with New Mexico, she notched a career-best four RBI. Over the week, the second baseman held a .529 batting average, scoring seven runs off nine hits, including eight RBI.
Affleck, a New Harmony, Utah, native, recorded her first collegiate no-hitter in BYU's 4-0 win over New Mexico. In the win, the freshman recorded her ninth complete game, while striking out nine Lobo batters. She went 3-0 over the week, also defeating Colorado State and Utah Valley. She pitched 18.1 innings, while allowing only three runs, combining for a 1.15 ERA.
Ross, hailing from Santa Clarita, Calif., went 2-0 vs. UNLV to lead San Diego State to its fourth MWC regular-season title. The lefthander held the Rebels without a run during the series, striking out 11 batters, while allowing only two walks over 12 innings of work. She limited UNLV to just three hits and a .079 batting average in the two games.
