COLORADO SPRINGS -- Fan voting for the football, women's volleyball, women's soccer and cross country Mountain West Conference 10th Anniversary Team concludes Friday, July 18, using the following link.
The BYU athletic department is encouraging all fans to participate in helping select the team. Cougar fans are invited to vote for their favorite BYU athletes from the past decade.
Top MWC athletes have been nominated for the team and winners will be honored to commemorate the MWC 10th Anniversary season, which runs throughout the 2008-09 academic year.
Anniversary Teams for these fall sports will be announced the week of July 21-25 on The Mtn. and on the MWC Web site.
Cougar nominees include former BYU quarterback and current Miami Dolphin, John Beck, national cross country champion Josh Rohatinsky, four-time All-American soccer start Aleisha Cramer-Rose and three-time All-American middle blocker Nina Puikkonen.
The teams will be selected by a combination of balloting of fans, media and institutional personnel. In order to be considered, the athlete must have met one of the following criteria: A first team all-conference selection at least once in their MWC career, a first team All-American by a major/national sector as recognized and utilized by the NCAA for their consensus All-American teams during their MWC career, or a top finisher at the MWC or NCAA Championships. In all cases, the candidate's record as a citizen may also be weighed.
